The Cameron Highlands is located roughly 200 kilometers north of Kuala Lumpur, and Hobbitoon is easily accessible whether you’re driving or using public transport. The journey from Kuala Lumpur typically takes 3 to 4 hours, depending on road conditions.

From Penang it is about a 3 hour drive and from Ipoh about 45- 1 hour making it a great place to break a journey to the Cameron highlands

By Car:

Driving to Hobbitoon is straightforward via the North-South Expressway. From Kuala Lumpur, take the exit at Tapah and follow Route 59 up to the Cameron Highlands. Be mindful that the roads can be winding, especially during peak seasons or rainy weather. Once you’re in the highlands, follow signs or use a GPS to locate Hobbitoon, which is situated half way better Ipoh and the Cameron highlands. We used it as a stop on the way to our hotel the Smoke House.

By Public Transport:

Buses to the Cameron Highlands depart from Terminal Bersepadu Selatan (TBS) in Kuala Lumpur, with the journey taking approximately 4.5 to 5 hours. The main drop-off point is in Tanah Rata. From there, you can hire a taxi or use ride-hailing services to reach Hobbitoon. Fortunately in Malaysia Grab ( the e hailing service is cheap and efficient)

Local Transport:

Once you’re in the Cameron Highlands, taxis, Grab services, and local tours are available for getting around. If you plan to explore other attractions in the area, consider renting a car for more convenience and flexibility.
